A Kenya Airways (KQ) flight bound for Dar es Salaam was forced to return to Nairobi shortly after take-off on Sunday following a medical emergency on board.

According to Kenya Airways (KQ), flight KQ484, which departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at approximately 13:40hrs local time, turned back soon after leaving Nairobi due to the unforeseen incident.

"Kenya Airways confirms that on April 27, 2025, at around 13:40hrs local time, flight KQ484, operating from Nairobi (NBO) to Dar es Salaam (DAR), returned to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly after departure due to a medical emergency," the airline said.

Upon arrival, the aircraft was met by medical personnel, and all "necessary health and safety protocols were adhered to," KQ stated.

The airline further reported that passengers were kept informed throughout the process and were "briefed and provided with guidance in line with health and safety regulations."

Following the management of the medical situation, the aircraft was cleared for departure once more.

The flight resumed its journey to Dar es Salaam, departing Nairobi at 15:54hrs, according to Kenya Airways.
