A five-day weather outlook issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of widespread rainfall and isolated thunderstorms across multiple regions of the country from Thursday to Monday.
According to the bulletin signed by Dr David Gikungu, Director of Meteorological Services, “Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, North-western and North-eastern Kenya.”
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, including the Lake Victoria Basin and the central Rift Valley counties, will experience consistent wet conditions.
Morning showers will gradually intensify into afternoon thunderstorms across several places each day, with nighttime rainfall persisting through the forecast period.
Daytime temperatures are projected to hover around 26 to 28°C, while nighttime lows may dip to 13°C.

In the North-western counties of Turkana and Samburu, scattered rainfall is expected, building up towards more widespread activity by the end of the five days.
Afternoon thunderstorms are anticipated over a few areas for most of the period, becoming more extensive on Monday.
Temperatures will remain warm, peaking at 33°C during the day and dropping to 14–15°C at night.
Residents of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, should expect cooler conditions and a steady pattern of showers.
Morning skies will be cloudy, occasionally breaking into sunny intervals, followed by afternoon thunderstorms over several locations from Friday onwards.
Maximum temperatures will decline slightly over the period from 27°C to 25°C, while minimum temperatures could fall to as low as 9°C.
The North-eastern region, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, will experience intense heat with daytime highs reaching 37°C.
Despite the heat, showers and thunderstorms are forecast in both morning and afternoon sessions, though concentrated over fewer locations as the days progress.
South-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland Tana River, are likely to experience light morning rains under cloudy skies, followed by isolated afternoon thunderstorms.
Temperatures are expected to climb gradually from 32°C to 33°C, with nighttime lows remaining around 15°C.
The Coastal region, spanning Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal Tana River, is forecast to see occasional showers throughout the day across the entire period, though no major intensification is expected.
Maximum temperatures will remain steady at 33°C, with warm nights staying at 25°C.
The department reminded the public that, “This forecast should be used in conjunction with the daily (24-hour) forecast issued by this Department. County-specific forecasts are available from the offices of the respective County Directors of Meteorological Services.”
The forecast comes at a time when seasonal rainfall patterns are expected to intensify across the country, prompting heightened vigilance, particularly in areas prone to flash floods and landslides.
