Motorists in Kenya have been instructed to submit updated documentation for their vehicles and motorcycles under a newly operational verification system launched by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), targeting both individual and institutional vehicle owners.
The Authority said the system is meant to assist a wide group of stakeholders, including financial institutions, government agencies, insurers, and dealers.
“The Authority has operationalised the duty update module/ vehicle records update tool to provide necessary support to all motor vehicle/motorcycle owners, including Financial Institutions, Government Agencies, Insurance Companies, Dealers, Companies among others,” NTSA stated.
To comply, applicants must present a set of five documents. First is a formal duty or records update request letter.
The NTSA clarified that the letter must include the motor vehicle owner’s phone number and email address.

Once received, the Authority will stamp a copy of the letter as proof that the documents were checked and accepted.
The additional requirements include the following:
1. Copy of the identification card of the owner
2. The original logbook for the motor vehicle
2.KRA Entry document
4. Duty payment receipt
The Authority has also published a guide on its website to assist applicants with the process.
The notice stated, “Visit www.ntsa.go.ke to download the detailed Public Notice to guide on the:
1. Documentation submission points
2. Documentation Processing and Charges
3. Documents Collection after Processing
4. Duplicate Certificate of Ownership (Logbook) application,” according to NTSA.

The announcement forms part of the agency’s wider compliance effort to keep all vehicle records current and verifiable.
Motorists are encouraged to act promptly to avoid disruptions in logbook processing, transfer of ownership, or other services linked to documentation.
