For Chesang, Saturday’s win marked another significant step in an already promising journey. The 2023 Grand Finale Ladies Nett champion, playing off handicap 23, carded a gross score of 95 to claim Overall Gross Lady Winner.
Her return to the Grand Finale now carries the weight of experience and expectation.
Beyond the headline acts, the day saw several other standout performances.
In Division II, Michael Chege (HC 24) posted 37 points to top the men’s leaderboard, while Josephine Njeri (hcp 22) led the ladies with 33 points.
Ann Atieno, playing off 27, stole the show in Division III, returning a brilliant 42 points to clinch the category.
The junior category brought a familiar name to the winner’s podium.
Just like in 2022, Carlos Wakoli proved too strong for his age group.
Playing off handicap 20, he tallied 27 points to reclaim his crown and secure yet another Grand Finale appearance.
The top six; Kirui, Chesang, Chege, Njeri, Atieno, and Wakoli, now join a growing list of finalists eyeing glory at the 2025 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale.
Among other notable achievements on the day, Mirriam Wanjiku claimed the Longest Drive title for ladies, while Kennedy Soita and Gracemary Karira earned Nearest to the Pin honors.
Reflecting on the day’s events, Jacquie Muhati, NCBA’s Deputy Director and Head of Brands, noted the growing strength of golf across the country:
“Kitale Club’s success in producing two winners at the NCBA Golf Series Finales proves that Kenya’s golf future is rising from all corners. Through the Change the Story platform, we’re building a full-cycle pipeline from juniors to pros to demystify golf and shatter elitist perceptions.
“Our ultimate goal? A formidable Kenyan golf team in the future. NCBA dared to dream, and the journey has begun, and together, we can make it a reality that will change the golf landscape in Kenya and Africa.”
With the Kitale showdown now in the books, all eyes turn to the first regional double-header of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series calendar.
The action resumes on Saturday, June 14, at both Uganda Golf Club and Karen Country Club, promising another exciting chapter in what’s already shaping up to be a thrilling season.
