Safaricom has launched a new nationwide initiative, ‘Maisha Poa Ni Digital’, as part of its ongoing efforts to accelerate digital inclusion across Kenya.
The campaign is focused on transitioning millions of Kenyans, particularly those in rural and peri-urban regions, from 2G feature phones to affordable 4G-enabled smartphones.
As part of the campaign, customers purchasing a 4G+ smartphone will receive a complimentary 5.5GB data bundle.
To further ease access, the devices will be available through the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo financing plan, allowing users to pay a deposit as low as Sh500 and daily installments from just Sh30.
The initiative targets individuals and communities currently underserved in the digital space, with Safaricom aiming to bridge connectivity gaps and foster economic inclusion.

“Our goal with this campaign is to bridge the digital divide by providing affordable smartphones and flexible payment plans that open access to communication, business, learning, and essential digital services,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
The campaign builds on Safaricom’s sustained investments in network infrastructure and digital literacy.
The telco now boasts over 97 per cent 4G coverage countrywide and has rolled out several initiatives to boost smartphone penetration in Kenya.
By migrating users from 2G to 4G, Safaricom is also enabling broader access to essential platforms such as M-Pesa, eCitizen, online education tools, and health service apps—technologies that are increasingly crucial in modern life.
Customers interested in the offer can visit any Safaricom Shop, authorized dealer, or Lipa Mdogo Mdogo agent.
