Global insurtech bolttech has formally launched in Kenya through a partnership with LOOP, the digital financial services arm of NCBA Group, marking its expansion into East Africa with embedded protection and insurance solutions.

The initiative introduces LOOP FLEX, a Buy Now Pay Later product designed to ease access to smartphones and other devices while ensuring users remain fully protected.

The programme, which debuts this October, blends device financing with insurance coverage that shields customers from theft, accidental and liquid damage, mechanical breakdown, and extended warranty.

Repairs under the plan will only be carried out at certified service centres using genuine parts, preserving device quality and longevity.

Explaining the partnership, LOOP DFS Chief Executive Officer Eric Muriuki said the arrangement reflects LOOP’s commitment to customer-focused financial solutions.

“This partnership enables us to empower our customers with access to the devices they need through transparent and affordable financing powered by LOOP FLEX, as well as give them the peace of mind that comes with comprehensive protection," Muriuki stated.

"It’s another step towards delivering innovative, accessible, and digitally driven financial solutions that empower our customers to live and work with confidence.”

For bolttech, the decision underscores the strategic importance of Kenya in its Africa growth story. Stephan Tan, CEO EMEA and Group Chief Investment Officer, noted the digital vibrancy of the market.

“Kenya is one of Africa’s most dynamic digital economies and we are proud to enter the market alongside LOOP, a trusted and innovative local partner. Together, we are embedding protection into the device ownership journey, enabling more people to afford and safeguard the technology they rely on every day.”

LOOP FLEX provides coverage through bolttech’s device lifecycle management platform and comes with clearly outlined benefits.

Customers will have access to theft protection, which includes a gift voucher towards a replacement device value balance after 30 days, subject to a 10 per cent deductible and a police report filed within 48 hours.

The plan also offers a one-time repair option for mechanical and liquid damage, covering issues such as screen and case cracks, battery damage, internal component faults, and water damage, with no deductible.

All repairs will be undertaken with authentic parts at accredited service centres, maintaining device durability.

The policy additionally covers a one-time repair service up to the original device value.

To ease customer experience, claims can be submitted and monitored digitally through bolttech’s platforms, streamlining the process.

By combining flexible financing with reliable protection, the LOOP FLEX product seeks to bridge affordability and security for Kenyan consumers, positioning itself as a significant step in redefining device ownership in the market.
