Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has asked county staff to stay the course on service delivery even as politics for the 2027 elections begin to take shape.
She spoke on Thursday during a county Thanksgiving and Prayer Breakfast held at the headquarters in Kutus.
The event, themed “Let Your Light Shine” from Matthew 5:16, brought together members of the County Assembly, the Executive, and staff from across government.
Looking back on her tenure, Waiguru described a county that has undergone wide-ranging changes.
She pointed to improvements in health services, trade, agriculture, education, empowerment initiatives for women and youth, and a stronger network of roads and urban infrastructure.

She underlined her hope for how future leadership should be judged.
“My prayer is that in 2027, the determinant of who we elect in Kirinyaga will be based on delivery and work,” she said.
To drive the point home, she added that her government will place billboards across the county to display the record of completed projects.
The governor spoke of hundreds of projects that she said have reshaped daily life for residents.
Among them are state-of-the-art hospitals, cabro-paved town centres, new market spaces, increased farm productivity that has tripled farmer incomes, and the still-developing Sagana Industrial City.
On health, she said that all 74 county facilities, including dispensaries, are now digitised to make services easier to access.
Waiguru praised county workers for sustaining the projects, describing them as the driving force behind the county’s progress.
“The people who oil the wheels and carry the weight are the county executive. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much,” she said.
She also reminded her staff that election politics should not interfere with their mandate.
“Whoever will be Governor, we start praying that it will be a better leader than Anne Waiguru, because God is not limited,” she remarked.
County Assembly Speaker Murimi Muteti, in his message of support, said: “We are giving thanks for our governor’s years of excellent and transformative leadership, placing the county as a model and a benchmark for others.” Deputy Governor David Githanda also lauded Waiguru’s leadership.
The gathering closed with a shared call for unity and a commitment to continue delivering services for the people of Kirinyaga.
