Gina Din-Kariuki’s autobiography, Daughter of Africa, is set for adaptation to film after the Kenyan author and media strategist secured a book-to-film arrangement through a new American publishing partnership.

The development comes after GUNGNIR and Storyteller Media announced they would join forces to publish and develop books with potential for screen adaptation.

The companies outlined that their model would allow stories to be prepared for both page and screen from the start, supported by Curiosity Entertainment’s production team.

Curiosity Entertainment is already engaged in preproduction on several projects, including a television series from Ozark co-creator Mark Williams, a film co-produced with Panay Films, and a show written by The Umbrella Academy's Neese Brothers, according to the announcement.

Din-Kariuki’s Daughter of Africa, which has already achieved bestseller status in Africa, will be re-released in North America in 2025.

Alongside the reissue, she plans to introduce a new workbook centred on leadership and legacy, drawing on her experience at the helm of The Gina Din Group.

Storyteller Media will also publish Don’t Fear Your Roar, a memoir by Darian Sanders, later this year.

Sanders, who gained recognition for his role as Simba in Disney’s The Lion King national tour, recounts his journey of faith, resilience, and self-discovery in the book.

Speaking about the new titles, Charles Allen, Publisher at Storyteller Media, explained that each publishing decision is guided by the intended impact of the story.

“At Storyteller, we start every publishing conversation by asking, ‘What impact can this story make?’ We believe Daughter of Africa and Don’t Fear Your Roar are perfect examples of stories making a meaningful impact, and we are thrilled to amplify their voices with readers and viewers around the world," Allen stated.

Matt Medney, CEO of GUNGNIR Publishing, reflected on the partnership’s alignment with their broader goals, saying: “Our goal at GUNGNIR has always been to create narratives that go beyond the expected. Storyteller’s approach to turning books into cross-media experiences aligns perfectly with our mission. This partnership gives bold voices the platform they deserve — in print, on screen, and beyond.”

Looking ahead, the publishers indicated that their 2025–2026 release schedule would include memoirs, fiction, graphic novels, and social impact stories — all structured to be adaptable into film or television.

Adhrucia Apana, Founder of Curiosity Entertainment, also underlined their commitment to nurturing projects from the earliest stage.

“At Curiosity, we believe in supporting stories from their very first spark to their final frame. Through Storyteller Media and our partnership with GUNGNIR, we’re able to go upstream, discovering bold and visionary IP early and cultivating it for the screen. This is how we build legacy stories that last," Apana said.

Further details on additional projects are expected to be made public in the coming months.
