Samsung Electronics East Africa has expanded its product line in Kenya with the introduction of the Galaxy A17 smartphone and the Galaxy Buds Core earphones.

The Buds Core are already available for purchase, while the Galaxy A17 will reach the market on Monday.

Speaking during the launch, Eveline Munene, Head of Product and Marketing at Samsung Electronics East Africa, highlighted the company’s focus on accessibility.

“Giving more Kenyans simple, helpful technology is a priority. The Galaxy A17 puts Gemini within reach through a dedicated side button for quick AI help,” Munene explained.

The Galaxy A17 blends functionality with affordability, offering a physical button that provides direct access to Gemini AI for writing, translations, searches and other quick tasks.

Buyers will be able to choose between two variants, 4+128 GB at Sh20,800 and 6+128 GB at Sh22,600.

Samsung has also committed to six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security updates, a measure that extends the life of the handset.

On the design front, the A17 comes in Black, Blue and Gray, is built with a lightweight and comfortable frame, and carries a battery designed to last a full day.

The device will be sold through authorised Samsung dealers, with financing options available via Watu and M-KOPA.

The Galaxy Buds Core, priced at Sh5,100, are aimed at customers seeking reliable everyday audio.

They feature active noise cancellation, multiple microphones for clearer voice calls, and support for Galaxy functions such as Interpreter and Auto Switch.

"The Buds Core deliver clear, reliable audio and features for everyday use," Munene said.

Designed for comfort, the earbuds are IP54-rated to withstand dust and splashes, and they come in Bold Black or Fresh White.

By releasing the Galaxy A17 and Buds Core at competitive price points, Samsung is targeting a wider share of Kenya’s technology market, giving consumers more options in both smartphones and audio devices.
